INSIDER'S VENICE (new itinerary)

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS IN VENICE -
60th ? 50th ? 40th ?

In March 2007 five students of the first Pre-University Course (1965) together with friends, a group of 30, came to Venice to celebrate a 60th birthday. They booked their own flights and hotels and we had the privilege and pleasure of arranging some nostalgic events in Venice.

These were:

Friday 7.30 p.m. a private visit to St.Mark's, with the mosaics illuminated, the Pala d'Oro and the Crypt.

Saturday 2.30 p.m. a private visit to the island of S.Giorgio Maggiore and to the Fondazione Cini- Palladian cloister and Refectory, staircase and Library by Longhena, the Palladian church with two superb paintings by Tintoretto.

7pm Drinks in a private palace on the Grand Canal, 8.30 p.m. Birthday Dinner in an excellent trattoria.

Sunday Private boat to Torcello, Lunch on Burano, Boat back to Venice.

In the sadness of saying goodbye after such conviviality, someone said "But there will be more. Think of all the other years of students who would love to do the same ."
