Dates & Fees 2010 (London and Venice) THE REVISED VENICE COURSE 2010 For the 2010 Venice Course revisions have been made in the length of the course, cost and content. In addition to our regular introduction to aspects of the European cultural tradition, there will be talks on contemporary global issues such as climate change, food and fuel supplies and on political issues such as the use of force by international and terrorist organizations and the concept of policing the world. The course continues to be a thoughtful and inspirational experience, not a tour. It combines a questioning look at the world of today and tomorrow with our long-established practice of introducing aspects of European art, architecture, music, literature and history together with practical classes in studio life drawing and portrait painting, photography and Italian language. The course is conducted, through a series of talks and visits, by world class specialists. To keep price competitive, the 2010 course will be reduced by one week and comprises an introductory week in London, five weeks in Venice, followed by the options of one week in Florence and six days in Rome. A Note on Fees: "£168 - not a sum easily found by everyone" - wrote The Guardian of the Pre-University Course fees in 1968. Our fees have kept roughly the same relationship to a term at an independent boarding school. Apart from the full programme and the benefit of the extensive visiting faculty listed, they include return travel to Italy, accommodation, breakfast and dinner daily, and a supportive resident staff.
